"The cushioning is not as good as the 5/6/7/8. They provided much more cushion for health strike runners. With the changes in 9, should I now switch to a different shoe?"
"I'm an ultra-long-distance runner, and I've been using the Wave Sky series of shoes for the last eight years. I've started running in the latest Wave Sky 9, and there are some improvements over the 8. The new rocker design means I'm running with less foot pain from bursitis, and noticeably less fatigue - both of which are big gains for me. The internal fabric gusset has been moved back as well, making it easier to fit Engo patches, which is another win. However, the shoe cut is too small in the mid-foot region and far too small in the toe box. This is causing me to suffer severe blisters in places that I've never blistered before. The blisters now take weeks to heal after a long run, and I'm at risk of losing several toenails from each ultra-marathon. This is despite going up half a size, as recommended, fitting Engo patches to the key rubbing points, and strapping using Mefix tape - under the supervision of a podiatrist who is also a long-distance runner! As my podiatrist said, I have a narrow foot for my size - so I'm wondering how other runners are in any way coping with this shoe over longer distances? I'm guessing they are being forced to choose another rocker super shoe from a different company. With just some minor tweaks, this shoe could go from good to astonishing. Currently, it's a 7/10 from me - while I look for an alternative."

"I've come back to Mizuno after a break and what a change from the both the last Wave Sky I purchased and the Wave Rider models I'd been wearing. After going through two pairs of Hoka Bondi, I decided to try the new Wave Sky - very impressed and cushioning exceeds the Hoka models. A little less stable when standing for periods of time, but the significantly lighter weight overrides this, The sole is a new type of pattern and visually appears to not be very durable. This may not the be case in the long term and I'll be able to establish this after a few months."
"Great shoe"
