OSAKA, JAPAN – (July 5th, 2022) – Japanese sporting equipment manufacturer Mizuno has revealed the new kit designs for VfL Bochum 1848 for the 2022/2023 season.

The upcoming football season will see VfL Bochum 1848 wearing a Mizuno home, away and third kit. Together, the brand and football club collaborated to develop a design that reflects the traditions and rich history of VfL Bochum 1848.

Proud for being one of the oldest football clubs in the world, VfL Bochum 1848 cherishes its history. With Mizuno, the goal was to combine the club’s traditions with modern design. Together, they have looked at the rich heritage of the club to create a unique design that will resonate with squad members and fans alike. Inspiration for the design comes from the Vonovia Ruhrstadion. Built in 1979, it is an important symbol for the club and a home to the fans. The iconic pillars of the stadium support the structure, but figuratively, they also hold the club and fans together. Consequently, this important hallmark has been incorporated into the design of the new jerseys to inspire a sense of pride and belonging for fans.

The colour of the new home jersey is named floodlight dark blue with a monochromatic blue colour scheme at the front. Four pillars of the club are highlighted on the front in a lighter blue and stacked above each other in an asymmetrical design. To match the shirt, the shorts also come in floodlight dark blue with white piping. Socks are featured in dark blue and white.

The new away jersey’s colour is floodlight light blue with the front of the jersey featuring a classic and subtle tonal embossed horizontal striping which is a symbol to represent the different ways the fans use on their road from the city to the stadium. The jersey is complemented by light blue shorts and socks.

The kits are manufactured from 100% recycled, breathable polyester. This is a strategic move that demonstrates the commitment of VfL and Mizuno to reducing their carbon footprint.

Marketing Manager EMEA at Mizuno, Stephan Dekker is excited about the partnership. He said:

“Everyone at Mizuno is thrilled about the partnership with VfL Bochum 1848. In line with our ambition to strengthen our position in the world of football, this signing will surely put Mizuno stronger on the map in Europe. With our rich history in football and 116 years of existence as a brand, we are looking forward to giving the team and fans unique products. Because we believe that in the modern world of football, it is important to still listen to the opinion of the fans, and I think this is reflected in the designs of our products. We have worked really hard towards this launch and it’s great to see it finally go live.”
